Laura Alma Lyman Brecher of Toledo Ohio, died May 31, 2013 in Sunset House Toledo.
Laura was born in Mitchell South Dakota on October 26, 1932 to Howard Fiske and Grace Joergensen Lyman, the fifth of nine children, Bruce, Ralph and Helen of blessed memory as well as Ruth, Celia, Aldine, Louise and Diane.
She attended Country Day School and Mitchell High School in South Dakota, where she was involved in 4-H. Following high school she attended Boise Junior College and went on to Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, graduating with an R.N. degree in 1955 and a B.S.N. in 1958.
Following graduation she was employed at Hopkins Hospital as a pediatric nurse, becoming head nurse by the time she left in 1963. She relocated to Children’s Hospital in Washington DC where she also taught student nurses and met her husband Arthur Brecher, marrying on June 19, 1966 in the Washington Hebrew Congregation.
